Sundays at 9:00am

Here’s a little bit more about what we believe

God

There is one God who is three in persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He alone has eternally existed before all things

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is the eternal son of the Living God, Savior of the world, and Head of the Church

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit, dwelling within us, is our Helper who guides, comforts, strengthens, and unites us

New Testament

We declare the New Testament as the rule of faith and practice in our daily lives

Church

We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ and is under His authority

Mission

We believe that Jesus Christ has mandated us to preach the gospel at home, in the community, and in the world

Human Sexuality

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God. Rejection of one’s biological sex/gender is a rejection of the image of God within that person

Salvation

We believe a person is saved by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human effort

Marriage

We believe that marriage is an institution ordained by God in which one man and one woman join together, becoming one flesh

History

Deep Roots and New Growth

The Church of the Brethren originated in Schwarzenau, Germany in the year 1708, when eight persons covenanted their faith in God by engaging in the rite of Trine Immersion baptism in the Eder River. After encountering so much hostility in Europe, they chose the challenge and opportunities of the New World. Pioneering westward through the Conestoga Valley, the Brethren extended their mission and influence. On June 9, 1902, our congregation was organized with a membership of 125.
In 1985 the congregation began planning for future growth which culminated in the “Pursuit Of A Vision” campaign. Approximately twelve acres of land were purchased from John Peters and a pavilion and softball field were added. Then, in 1994 the first phase of “The Vision” was finished with the completion of a new fellowship hall and kitchen facility. In 2005 an extensive improvement was made erecting a spacious narthex for fellowship. The lower level was remodeled to include additional classrooms, a café, and a serving kitchen.
